FOR MOVERS
MoveSmart Mover Terms
Version 2026-10-10
1. What MoveSmart is
MoveSmart is a marketplace that connects customers with independent moving professionals. You run your own business: you decide whether to accept a job, supply your own crew and equipment, and are responsible for how the work is done.
Nothing in these terms makes you an employee, agent, or partner of MoveSmart.
2. Joining and approval
You must provide accurate business and contact information and keep it up to date. New accounts are reviewed by MoveSmart and are not shown to customers until approved. MoveSmart may decline or remove any account at its discretion.
You are responsible for holding any licenses, registrations, and insurance required by law for the services you offer, including any state mover registration that applies to you.
3. Your rates
You set your hourly rates, minimum hours, crew size, and (for full-service moves) mileage rate in your dashboard. Customers book at the rates shown when they book.
If a job takes longer than the prepaid minimum, the extra time is billed at the same hourly rate.
If you offer junk removal, you set a price for each load size (minimum, ¼, ½, ¾ and full) and any per-item fees. Your prices must include disposal fees. You confirm the actual load on site; if it differs from the customer's estimate, the price is adjusted and the customer approves the final total with their completion code. You may not haul hazardous materials through MoveSmart.
4. Payments and MoveSmart's fee
Customers pay through MoveSmart only. The customer prepays the minimum when booking, and MoveSmart holds that payment until the job is complete.
When you finish a job, you enter the actual hours and the customer receives a completion code with the final total. Entering that code releases payment. Any extra balance is charged to the customer at that time.
MoveSmart keeps a service fee of 12% of the final job total. You receive the remaining 88%, paid to your connected Stripe account. You must complete Stripe's payout setup to be paid.
If a customer's bank reverses a payment for one of your jobs (a chargeback) and the dispute is lost, you are responsible for the reversed amount plus the bank's dispute fee. MoveSmart will recover it from that job's payout first. You can repay any remainder in full from your next payout, split over your next 2 or 4 payouts, or pay it by card on MoveSmart. If it isn't repaid, MoveSmart may recover it by other lawful means. Your payout for a job is held while a dispute on it is open.
You are responsible for your own taxes. Stripe may issue tax forms based on your payouts.
5. Cancellations and no-shows
Customers may cancel free of charge until 24 hours before the move. If a customer cancels an accepted job less than 24 hours before the move, they pay a $70 fee, of which $50 is paid to you.
If you decline a request or cancel an accepted job, the customer is refunded in full and you are not paid. Late cancellations and no-shows hurt customers; repeated cancellations or any no-show may lead to removal from MoveSmart.
6. Keeping bookings on MoveSmart
Customers you meet through MoveSmart must book and pay through MoveSmart. For 12 months after you are introduced to a customer through MoveSmart, you agree not to ask for, offer, or accept payment from that customer outside MoveSmart for moving services, and not to encourage them to book you directly.
Use customer contact details only to coordinate MoveSmart jobs and resolve claims. Do not add customers to marketing lists or contact them for other purposes. Paying a customer compensation you've agreed to in a claim is not off-platform business.
If you take a MoveSmart customer's job off the platform, you agree to pay MoveSmart the service fee it would have earned on that job, plus a $250 administrative fee, and MoveSmart may remove your account.
7. Doing the work
Arrive on time with the crew size you accepted, treat customers and their property with care, and accurately report the hours worked. Never ask a customer for their completion code before the job is finished.
You are responsible for loss or damage caused by you or your crew. Customers can file a claim within 7 days of a job, and you must respond on MoveSmart within 7 days and try in good faith to resolve it. Any compensation is agreed with the customer and paid by you directly; MoveSmart doesn't process it. Not responding to claims can lead to suspension or removal.
8. Reviews
Customers can rate and review completed jobs. You may not offer anything in exchange for a review, post reviews of your own business, or pressure customers about their ratings. MoveSmart may remove reviews that break these rules.
9. Ending your account
You can close your account at any time after finishing any jobs you've accepted. MoveSmart may suspend or remove accounts that break these terms or put customers at risk.
10. Changes and governing law
MoveSmart may update these terms and will notify you of material changes. Continuing to use MoveSmart after an update means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida.
